Sonali + Andrew

There is a first for everything.

I had a very unique experience recently. I was asked to be the photographer for this lovely wedding, but due to a conflict in schedule and not being able to come to an agreement, I could only shoot the day of the temple sealing. When I arrived at the event, I was surprised to see that the couple already had a photographer on site, which made for an interesting day.

The Photographer.

The guy they asked to be the primary photographer had a very low-entry camera. I noticed there was a bar code on the side of the body which made me think that the guy rented the equipment. His choice of lens, the standard kit lens for an entry-level camera, gave me the idea that he might be a student, or maybe just someone who does it as a hobby. I also noticed that he was using the automatic settings on the camera, this is when I realized I better not put my camera away.

Background Shooting.

Because I wanted to respect the photographer and the decision of the couple, I decided that I would shoot the background activity that the primary photographer was not capturing. I tried my best to stay out of his way and allow him to take all the primary photos. This was a first for me, I have never had to be second to someone else shooting, but it gave me a very unique point of view that I’m sure the happy couple will appreciate.

So what do you think? Below are some of my favorite photos. Enjoy!
