Musick Family Portraits
A few months ago I was approached by Thunder Ridge Elementary, a local school that has an excellent special education program for autistic children, for a charity auction they were having to raise money. Of course I wanted to help!
The family that purchased the photo package was this young, yet large family with very lovely children.
The shoot was definitely the most challenging one I have had. Most the kids were very young and had a hard time focusing on what I wanted them to do. In situations like this, two things need to happen:
- I need to take as MANY photo as possible. With subjects that are easy to direct, you can get away with fewer shots because so many of them turn out perfectly. But with as many energetic children as I had this day, it’s very important to shoot more than usual to try and capture the one photo that will have most of the party looking their best.
- I am very grateful for my assistant, my lovely wife, because she tends to get children to smile and they will listen to her as I’m trying to get in as many shots as possible.
So even though it was a challenging shoot, I am still very happy with the photos we were able to produce. Here are a few of my favorite. Enjoy!
